Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) - Drip & Sprinkler Subsidy

Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) - Drip & Sprinkler Subsidy

Central sector scheme under PMKSY offering 55% subsidy for small and marginal farmers and 45% for general farmers (up to 70-80% with state top-up) for installing drip and sprinkler micro-irrigation systems.

Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) - Micro-Irrigation Scheme

The Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) component of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) focuses on enhancing water use efficiency at the farm level through micro-irrigation technologies—specifically Drip Irrigation and Sprinkler Irrigation Systems.

Micro-irrigation saves 40% to 50% water, cuts fertilizer consumption by 30% through fertigation, decreases electricity costs, and boosts crop productivity by 20% to 35%.

Subsidy Structure

  • Small & Marginal Farmers (up to 2 Hectares): 55% financial assistance of the indicative system cost.
  • Other / Large Farmers (above 2 Hectares): 45% financial assistance of the indicative system cost.
  • State Government Top-Up: Progressive states (such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka) provide an extra 15% to 25% top-up, bringing the effective subsidy up to 70% to 80% for smallholders.
  • Coverage: Maximum assistance is available up to 5 hectares per beneficiary.

Approved Micro-Irrigation Technologies

  1. Inline & Online Drip Irrigation: Ideal for row crops (cotton, sugarcane, banana, maize, vegetables) and horticulture orchards (pomegranate, citrus, mango, guava).
  2. Micro-Sprinklers: Suitable for groundnut, ginger, turmeric, leafy vegetables, and nurseries.
  3. Mini & Portable Sprinklers: Recommended for pulses, wheat, mustard, oilseeds, and undulating terrains.
  4. Rain-Guns (Semi-Permanent & Mobile): High-capacity water saving guns for field crops and fodder.

Eligibility & Documents Required

  • Farmer must have an assured water source (well, borewell, farm pond, canal lift) and electric or solar pump.
  • Soil and water test reports (recommended).
  • Latest land record documents (7/12, Jamabandi, Khasra, Khatoni).
  • Aadhaar Card and passport photographs.
  • Bank passbook with IFSC code.
  • Electric pump power bill or solar pump certificate.

Application Procedure

  1. Register on your state's micro-irrigation portal (e.g., MahaDBT in Maharashtra, RajKisan in Rajasthan, e-Uparjan in MP, GGRC in Gujarat).
  2. Select your crop, acreage, and spacing.
  3. Choose an empanelled, certified micro-irrigation manufacturer (e.g., Jain Irrigation, Netafim, EPC Mahindra, Finolex, Rivulis).
  4. The vendor conducts a farm survey and submits a GPS-mapped hydraulic layout design.
  5. After online administrative approval, the farmer pays only their non-subsidy farmer share.
  6. System installation is inspected by the Agriculture Department with geotagged photos, and the subsidy is settled directly.
