National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP)

NMEO-OP guarantees a minimum Viability Price (VP) to oil palm farmers against international price fluctuations, alongside a ₹29,000/ha planting material subsidy.

NMEO-OP: Self-Sufficiency in Edible Oils

The National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) with a financial outlay of ₹11,040 Crore addresses India's reliance on vegetable oil imports by aggressively expanding domestic oil palm plantations across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and the Northeast.

Unique Farmer Safety Nets: 1. Viability Price (VP) Mechanism: Fixes a formula-based price linking Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) to international crude palm oil rates. If domestic prices plunge, the Central Government deposits the difference directly into farmers' bank accounts through DBT. 2. Planting Material Assistance: ₹29,000 per hectare for certified seedlings and intercropping inputs during the 4-year gestation period. 3. Maintenance Subsidies: ₹21,000 per hectare for farm maintenance and drip irrigation installation.
