Overview Chili Leaf Curl is caused by the Chili leaf curl virus (ChiLCV) and is transmitted mainly by the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) and thrips. It causes puckering and wrinkling of leaves, severely stunting the plant.
Key Symptoms - Leaf Curling: Leaves curl upward and inward, becoming small, wrinkled, and deformed. - Stunted Growth: Affected plants remain stunted with clustered branches and bear few or no fruits.
Management 1. Sticky Traps: Install yellow sticky traps (10-15 per acre) to catch adult whiteflies. 2. Vector Control: Control whiteflies by spraying Imidacloprid 17.8 SL (0.3 ml/L) or Neem Oil (3 ml/L).
